Superb quality stool in the Arts and Crafts manner by renowned furniture maker Thomas Whittaker of Littebeck (1910 - 1991). Made entirely of Yorkshire oak, the stool has an adzed top to the thick seat with four slightly splayed legs, wedge jointed through the top. One legs bears the charming gnome ‘signature’ of Thomas Whittaker. Great natural colour to the oak with interesting grain pattern. The legs slightly lighter towards the bottom. A solid, very heavy piece of classic 20th century furniture.
More information on Thomas Whittaker is available in this wonderful British Pathe video: http://www.britishpathe.com/video/gnome-man (spot the stool like this one!)
