Carving Bench

0.00

Also known as a shave horse, carving benches like this were traditionally straddled and used to carve items such as spokes for cart wheels. Pressure would be applied to the foot paddle which would clamp the timber being carved under the head above. In predominately ash, this very rustic and early bench is an amazing interior or retail design piece. Probably best not used as an 'everyday bench' due to its age but perfectly capable of holding someone's weight.

It's definitely been a talking point since we had it in the shop! c.1750
